Thiazolidinediones, commonly known as to glitazones, and TZDs or insulin sensitizers is the most controversial group of medications available to treat diabetes. This group of medicines was introduced in 1997, and were the first oral medication made available to decrease the main problem of type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance.
